Why you should visit a recruitment agency

This is the one question we are asked by applicants more often than any other and I have to admit it is completely beyond me as to why you wouldn’t want to! Let’s see if I can explain how important this is for you, the job searcher.
First and foremost, can we consider the issue from the perspective of the client? We promise this is exactly what we do for our clients… Since they are paying us a fee to handle their recruitment for them, we will ensure what is on your CV is correct. People may make jokes about the fact that everyone lies on their CV, but we don’t and we don’t allow our candidates to do so. From upping your GCSE grades, removing the odd job here and there, building up your experience or increasing your salary, all these things always come out. It costs people their careers! Trust me on that.
CVs are also only one very small indication of a candidate’s true potential. The face-to-face interview tells us a whole lot more about the human behind the paper and because we interview you face to face, our clients trust our judgment and use our services more so than any other agency. This is why, when you look at our website or constantly see our name on the Job Boards, we have more interesting roles than most agencies out there.
We can also provide the “whole” picture of you after we’ve met you, suggest you for an interview even if your CV isn’t exactly what it should be, and sell the entire package. You’re a whole person rather than a piece of paper!
That is only a part of the story. The main reason is that you should want to meet the people to whom you’re trusting your career with! You spend the majority of your life at work. Don’t you want to ensure that we’re finding the best fit for you?
What is the most frequent complaint about agencies? They treat you as cattle, etc. Don’t listen to what we want, don’t care? Only interested in the client/fee, etc. and so on. Not here. We want to meet you, discover what it is that you want to accomplish and build trust by getting to know you. It’s all about human interaction. You meet someone face to face and begin to trust them, hear their voice, care about them, etc. You can rely on us to work tirelessly on your behalf to discover the job you want so that when we do get interviews for you, you will be eager to attend them. It’s a win-win situation.
Yes, it’s a pain having to take time out of your day just to register. I’ve also heard that businesses advertise non-existent vacancies (which is a breach of law and you may report it to REC). However, I’ll tell you something: our little secret… You are very, very sadly mistaken if you believe that we want to sit here all day and waste our time interviewing applicants for non-existent jobs. We have more important things to do with our time, and we are not concerned about the number of individuals we interview or the quality of those interviews. We’re just constantly working our hard to discover the finest individuals for our customers and the greatest clients for ourselves.
Other agencies may well do it over the phone, or via email but that is a very poor level of service to both you and the client, and if you had any sense you wouldn’t want to work with them.
