CFO, a key member of the senior team

The role of the CFO has become increasingly significant in the modern corporate environment as businesses look towards an ever-evolving range of financial options to help them aim for high growth, both on home turf and internationally.

With incredible advances in the logistical sector the world has become a much smaller place, and companies who once only traded in the UK, find markets further afield have opened up significantly. This means the new breed of CFO’s will be able to financially navigate any worldwide growth ambitions of the business.

Being CFO, you’ll typically find yourself second in command alongside the CEO and working closely with them is normal. You’ll often be called upon to partner with them to present the financial position at board level, as well as joining them in funding rounds and investment meetings.

Already occupying an FD or CFO roles within business, you’ll understand what it takes to drive a company forward commercially whilst keeping it firmly on the financial rails.

Senior tasks include;

  • Meeting legacy obligations of the past
  • Responsibility for the present financial position
  • Guiding the business towards a sound financial future
  • High-level reporting to the board and its stakeholders
  • Maintaining a strong capital structure
  • Maintaining appropriate gearing to avoid excessive risk
  • Working strictly within corporate financial governance

This is an extremely satisfying career and one where you’ll find yourself with a large degree of autonomy in steering the financial aspect of the ship, whilst maintaining a close relationship with your CEO or MD.

Any discrepancies or lapses in governance will almost certainly attract unwanted attention both internally and publicly, so maintaining an impeccable financial position, as well as the ability to fight the financial fires as they inevitably arise is paramount.

Hello Natalie, today is my first full month in my new job and I just want to thank you again for helping me acquire such a wonderful position. You were the most helpful recruiter I had during my extremely horrible redundancy process and for that I am extremely grateful. I have mentioned you, and Alexander Hancock to some of my friends at Pipex who were in managerial positions that are now coming up for redundancy, and if you and your company is able to help them even half as much as you helped me, they will be ecstatic in their new roles, Many many thanks Colette
