Our client is an international market leading organisation who are seeking an additional member for their team on a 12 month contract

  • The Product Manager is accountable for working with cross functional teams in order to compile, communicate and transfer knowledge and information in order to create commercial, innovative and cohesive product ranges in line with the Brand strategy
  • The Product Manager will need a deep understanding of, and ability to analyse, data for their product division(s), including detailed and up to date information on turnover, value, volume & range size, margin performance for previous mirror season and target for future season
  • The Product Manager will need an in depth knowledge of the core consumer for their product division, and to develop knowledge of and relationship with major customers in order to understand opportunities for growth or manage gaps & duplication in the range
  • The Product Manager will communicate and plan sufficiently well to overcome obstacles and issues throughout the calendar to ensure all range building activities, tasks and milestones are met on time and in full

The Role

  • Research
  • Continually develop understanding of UK and European market, customer, consumer, competitors, distribution strategies and price positioning
  • Compile seasonal commercial input through travel, communication with sales teams, customers and consumers
  • Document new innovation/market trends in fabric, styling, functionality, appropriate opportunities for the brand to investigate
  • Analysis
  • Work closely with planning to balance range growth, structure, price point, model and colour count
  • Work closely with sales, in order to make commercially driven decisions across European Markets
  • Ensure data is accurate, formatted and presented at the right level during key meetings, keeping key stakeholders informed
  • Range Planning
  • Prioritise market needs, define commercial concepts & maximise range efficiency
  • Create and maintain range brief, to include key information such as target landed cost, retail pricing info, forecast, product specification, fit requirements, fabric brief, target market etc.
  • Ensure strategy for responsible product area is in line with brand strategy, volume & value growth and margin requirements
  • Compile robust business plan for product area, leading to seasonal objectives and strategies being defined
  • The Product Manager will understand about sourcing products in Asia and will work closely with buyers and Asia teams

Product Creation/Development

  • Work with Heads of Buying to ensure appropriate product is created to meet price points
  • Work with product developers and design to provide clear design & branding direction, whilst encouraging creativity and innovation
  • Work with development teams to provide clear definition of range requirements, price points, and fabric, fit and construction requirements
  • Keep product range documentation & systems updated as required, making sure to inform cross functional teams on updates
  • Provide confident and enthusiastic range presentations at critical milestone meetings, sales launch and customer meetings

Range Management/Marketing

  • Update and maintain all systems accurately in line with calendar, process and key milestones
  • Brief all associated marketing communication materials needs to marketing team on agreed deadlines

Personal Skills & Experience

  • Excellent communicator – good presentation skills and ability to listen to and analyse different views and back up strategy with clear and logical perspective
  • Builds great relationships – across teams and at all levels, having the ability to negotiate and communicate ideas but maintaining a clear understanding of commercial constraints
  • Ability to influence – able to guide and present facts persuasively and reach compromise if necessary
  • Motivational skills – the ability to motivate teams cross departmentally to achieve range objectives within business constraints
  • Experience in product management and cross-departmental communication and working
  • Ideally an understanding of product specifications, fabrics and garment construction
  • Computer literate – including strong PowerPoint presentation and Excel
  • Good numerical skills – the ability to review, digest & debate data and make compelling strategic decisions as a result
  • Entrepreneurial with a flair for creating great products and predicting commercial future market opportunities
  • Willingness to undertake regular travel within UK and overseas
