Our client is a dynamic and financially secure business who are seeking an additional Tax Analyst for their successful team

Full Time (35 hours per week)

Salary £30,000 per annum (+bonuses) negotiable dependant on experience

Some people don’t think Tax Consultancy is the most exciting field in the world. They disagree.

Every business is a puzzle that just needs solving. And our client have a particular expertise in R&D Tax Credits. What they do is more than just filling in paperwork for clients.

They help them shape their business to be agile, innovative and to maximise their tax efficiencies, so they can navigate the world of R&D Tax Credits and ensure that year-on-year they maximise their claim eligibility, recover some of their costs and allow them to continually reinvest back into their business.

Sounds interesting! But what would I be doing?

This role will be pretty varied as you can expect and there’s going to be days where you get involved with some unusual projects- but your core duties would include:

  • Completing cost summaries and tax return submissions/amendments in a way which follows company processes, expectations and checks to maximise client benefit, accuracy, and due diligence.
  • Communicating and instructing, effectively and accurately with the client and internal and external stakeholders such as accountants, regarding technical aspects of the claim to ensure the benefit from the claim is correct.
  • Communicating with client’s key personnel to identify eligible projects and through casual interview style calls / in-person meetings gather the relevant information to write accurate and compliant technical project reports.
  • Taking responsibility for your own workload, analysts with work with their clients from beginning to end, completing all the necessary steps up until submission.
  • Being a first point of contact for both clients and other team members; responding to a variety of queries from colleagues and external customers as appropriate.
  • Responsible for identifying referral opportunities to be passed over to our Consultancy team.
  • Training junior members of staff, undertaking reviews and growing your team.

The Package

  • An initial salary of £30k+ per annum, with regular pay reviews (every 6 months) and ad-hoc bonuses based on performance.
  • Following the successful completion of your probation you will be included in the company’s profit share pool (whereby a percentage of the company’s profit is divided up and given to qualifying staff members every quarter).
  • They have an enhanced holiday’s package- 25 days + bank holidays.
  • Training: for the right candidate, outside of our comprehensive in-house training from our Head of R&D Analysis (if required) we are also open to provide access to accountancy, and/or tax-based qualifications (if required).
  • In terms of an office environment, we’re relaxed (no suits and ties unless the clients are in!) and friendly with a beer fridge for Friday beers.
  • Regular office events – race days, team building days out, nights out, etc.
  • Real opportunities for progression – building your own Analyst team, moving into managerial roles, etc.

How do I know if I’m the right person?

As much as we’re looking for the right mind-set more than skills- we want someone industrious, bright and who has a “client satisfaction first” mind-set- they would like an individual to meet some, if not all the below requirements:

  • Strong computer and IT skills to include data processing, typing and internet research abilities with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong experience within the R&D Tax industry (1-2years minimum), with experience in conducting meetings with clients, writing the technical documentation, and completing detailed and accurate cost summaries for both SME and Large clients.
  • Understanding the company’s objectives and priorities, and how own work fits into these.
