Our client is looking to recruit a Head of Sales to take responsibility for, leadand direct a highly motivated and experienced sales team to deliver monthly and annual revenue targets.

Key to this position will be the ability to cultivate and develop the existing experience of staff, whilst growing the sales channel to meet full potential

The ideal candidate for the position of Head of Sales will have a full understanding and demonstrable experience in identifying new business channels whilst expanding existing client relationships and revenues

Role and Responsibilities for the position of Head of Sales:

  • Responsible for the day to day lead of a sales team of 11 people
  • To be a key stakeholder , with the Sales and Marketing Director, for major new business opportunities and tenders
  • Develop and execute a planned business development strategy
  • Develop & cultivate the current internal sales team
  • Build and manage an external field sales team, where appropriate
  • Provide leadership and management to existing managers
  • Managing high level client relationships and develop to full potential
  • CRM Management – develop and monitor KPI’s and maximise database potential
  • Full P & L commercial responsibility for sales budgets
  • Interact with key stakeholders across the business
  • Completing tenders and delivering high value client sales pitches, both planned and at short notice
  • Be responsible for ensuring the team delivers superior quality of service to exceed customer expectations
  • Be responsible for personal development as well as the development of your team
  • Working closely with the Managing Director / Company Directors
  • Provide up to date KPI reports, attend daily / monthly meetings, and to communicate issues as and when appropriate
  • Support growth strategy development activities and tactical implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Build exceptional internal relationships including warehouse and production teams as well as buying and office support

Skills and Experience required for the position of Head of Sales:

  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Experience in a senior sales management role gained in a progressive FMCG/Manufacturing environment
  • Strategic sales leadership with a track record of meeting ambitious sales growth targets
  • Proven ability in converting and developing national accounts, standard accounts and telemarking opportunities
  • Strong analytical skills enabling identification of sales development opportunities
  • Experienced in managing companies experiencing rapid growth
  • A detail driven individual who manages their sales team closely and can accurately forecast sales team performance
  • P&L Management
  • Knowledge of using and implementing CRM systems
  • Proven track record of coaching, developing and team building
  • Lead a strategic change of both culture and behaviour that resulted in improved performance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and negotiation skills
  • Excellent PC knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Confident, engaging communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong client relationship and service ethos
  • Well-developed self-management and personal organisation capabilities
  • Innovative approach to problem solving
  • Able to work using own initiative
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
