Our client is looking to recruit a Group HR Manager with exceptional experience of transformational change, Learning and Development and employee engagement to assist the Board in providing an inspiring environment for an engaged workforce, enabling an employee’s personal development and succession planning for the business.

The ideal candidate will have worked in an engineering, manufacturing, heavy industrial environment to fully understand the nature of the business

Overview of the role

The role is based at the Head Office in Liverpool reporting to the Head of Group Support Services to drive the Group forward with aligned policies and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition of change and culture across the Group. Day to day activities include managing the HR team and Learning & Development Officer to deliver competent, effective, and efficient services to the rest of the organisation.

The post holder must have proven experience of HR management, strategy implementation, change management and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organisation. Demonstrable experience of successfully managing Organisational Development (OD), HR projects and Business As Usual (BAU) tasks at the same time.

Role and Responsibilities for the position of Group HR Manager

  • Implementation of the HR strategy to support the corporate strategy, developing plans and objectives to ensure delivery
  • Work with the executive team to respond to the changing external environment, identifying appropriate opportunities and evolving internal priorities through programmes of organisational transformation, culture change, and colleague engagement
  • Ensure best practice frameworks are in place for sourcing talent, developing colleague’s potential, and providing mandatory and statutory training
  • Advise on pay, benefits and other remuneration issues, ensuring that the total reward strategy supports colleague engagement and performance
  • Promote a wellbeing framework to support colleagues at work
  • Provide support, guidance, and advice to managers on all aspects of the employment framework, including understanding and implementing policies and procedures, performance management, capability, disciplinary and grievance
  • Responsible for delivering consistent HR support and guidance on operational and strategic matters to ensure our employees are engaged and motivated, matching the Company’s vision and values
  • Plan and manage organisational resources by participating in planning, developing, and executing corporate objectives.
  • Contribute to ideas and innovations that will promote corporate objectives by keeping abreast of modern HR policies and procedures
  • Manage employee recruitment; handling of staff management, performance, and review of productivity, including compensation of worthy staff and benchmarking to inspire and motivate others
  • Promote human capital and succession plans by assisting employees in their career development. Align employee work goals to that of the organisation to achieve business success
  • Serve as a leader of change for the organisation, providing modern HR management initiatives for the organisation and building strong project management skills that formulate growth
  • Act as an advocate for employees in matters of disagreement between the employee and the organisation
  • Work with other strategic partners to support change and manage any resistance to change
  • Management and overall responsibility for the HR Business Partners, HR Admin support and Learning & Development Officer
  • Develop policies and procedures mirroring an investor in people or similar accreditation to attract and retain human capital
  • Manage the L&D Officer to ensure employees have the necessary skills and training to perform their role
  • Ensure the Employee Handbook is kept up to date and relevant reflecting any changes in employment law
  • Be responsible for the HR management of Directors & other sensitive HR issues as required
  • Be responsible for appropriate HR systems to record time and attendance, working with the Finance department to bring together timely payroll information
  • Manage employee benefit schemes to attract and retain employees
  • Provide metrics and analysis of human resource activities and report on agreed key performance indicators and targets
  • Attendance at and travel to all Company sites as required

Essential skills for the position of Group HR Manager:

  • Strategic level experience in people leadership and organisation development
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Human Resources or related fields
  • Professional membership of CIPD
  • Proven working experience as a HR Manager or above with at least 5 years’ experience
  • A people-oriented and results-driven individual
  • Ability to demonstrate experience with metrics of human resource activities
  • Having the ability to strategize along with leadership skills and to influence and drive through change in an organisation
  • Being a good communicator and being an active listener while having the ability to negotiate and present skills effectively
  • Being competent at building and managing interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization
  • An in-depth knowledge of employment law and human resource management practices
  • Experience of dealing with change management processes and organisational development and demonstrate improvements in aligned working practices and culture
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • IT Literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role
  • Experience of implementing modern HR policies and procedures in the workplace
  • A working knowledge of Health & Safety rules and regulations, Environmental and Quality Standards
  • Experience of working in a similar industry/environment
  • Employment law qualification
  • Experience in the Investor in People accreditation or similar
