Building a reputation in honesty and integrity
Whilst three agencies were approached to tender on the business for the assignment, the company wanted just one agency to handle the whole process.
Since each candidate would need to be selected and pre-interviewed by our consultants before being presented to the client, the impossible task of one company recruiting 24 professionals of exceptional calibre in the short timescale provided was quickly recognised.
At a presentation with the client, Alexander Hancock explained the complexities to the client and advised them that it was in their best interest to give all three agencies a part of the assignment. Despite the short timescale, the other two companies had assured the Directors they were able to handle the assignment exclusively. Whilst the director thanked Alexander Hancock for their honesty, the business was given elsewhere.
Four weeks later, the dissatisfied client contacted Alexander Hancock to inform them that the company selected initially had been unable to keep up with their promise of providing the number and calibre of candidates they required. Due to this, the exclusive recruitment of the Team Manager roles was assigned to Alexander Hancock with immediate effect and candidates held in the agency’s database that were suitable for the Executive Roles were also considered by the client.
The assignment was successfully completed to deadline and the process highlighted the importance of managing client’s expectations and honesty of ability in the enhancement of reputation.
