I have been involved in Recruitment for over 25 years, and you would think that after all this time I would understand human nature better than most, but here is the thing.. where are peoples’ manners? The service we offer is free, is that the problem? Something that is free is of no value?
Now most people that I deal with are a delight, courteous, and actually quite grateful for the help that we give them, and, as always, it is the few that spoil it for every body else.. so my question is.. in this day and age of technology, mobile phones, texting, emails etc etc, why oh why do people not turn up for interview without letting us know?
How hard is it to call up and say I am sorry but I can not attend for ab or c reason.. we don’t bite! we don’t pressurise anyone to attend, do they not realise the effort that is involved in arranging an interview? Forget my time, this is what I do for a living, but our clients’ time is valuable, and more to the point there will be another person who would give their right arm for the opportunity.. so if anyone out there has an interview, remember, if you can not attend, let your agency or the business know… It is just a question of manners!
